MW4 Disc Editions and Download Requirements

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (MW4)

Which editions contain a disc?

Physical Standard Editions are listed for pre-order at participating retailers globally on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, both on disc. The Xbox disc listing specifically names Series X; it does not establish disc availability for Series S.

PC has no physical version, and the Vault Edition is available only digitally. Physical-edition prices and named participating disc retailers are unconfirmed.

What does the PS5 disc require before playing?

The PS5 disc reportedly does not contain all game content. Players must connect to the internet, download the remaining content and install the full game before playing.

This download requirement does not confirm whether offline play is available after installation.

Is the Switch 2 boxed edition a cartridge?

The reported Switch 2 physical edition is a boxed digital download code, with no game cartridge included.

Physical-retailer pre-orders for the Switch 2 Standard Edition were announced for later in the announcement year, without an exact opening date. That announcement does not confirm that pre-orders have opened or specify the contents of the box.

Physical pre-order restrictions and beta access

Physical-edition pre-orders are ineligible for the Vault Edition upgrade. Buyers seeking the Vault Edition should account for its digital-only availability.

Physical pre-order buyers should expect a beta code at the point of sale from participating retailers, granting Open Beta Early Access.
