Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (MW4)

What is DMZ?

DMZ is an action extraction shooter set in Hajin, playable solo or with a squad. You deploy as an off-the-books asset tasked with recovering advanced military technology left in the wake of war.

Each deployment combines objectives, hostile forces, rival Operators, and opportunities to recover valuable gear and resources.

How extraction works

Successful extraction carries recovered items into future deployments. Failing to get out can cost you the gear and resources you secured, making survival part of every decision.

  1. Deploy into Hajin solo or with a squad.
  2. Pursue objectives and recover gear and resources while dealing with hostile forces and rival Operators.
  3. Extract successfully to preserve recovered items for future deployments.

Missions, enemy factions and Operator hunts

Activities include narrative-driven Story Missions that expand the game’s story, multi-step Dynamic Operations, Side Ops, and high-value target hunts.

Hostile factions and rival Operators share the conflict zone. You can engage enemy factions, move covertly to control escalation, or pursue PvP encounters.

Operator hunting carries an additional risk: the Bounty system raises your notoriety and puts a price on your head.

Preparation at the Forward Operating Base

The Forward Operating Base is the hub you return to before and after extraction operations. Its services support preparation, inventory management and progression.

The FOB includes the 3D Printer crafting station, The Stash for storing inventory between deployments, weapon purchasing, a firing range, bounty boards, and additional upgrade systems that unlock over time.

Active Duty Operators and Trait Trees

DMZ progression includes persistent inventory and long-term Operator growth. The FOB’s Active Duty menu lets you create a roster of Operators, each with a backpack, loadout and progression that carry across deployments.

Missions award Trait Points to invest across three specialization Trait Trees. These unlock passive benefits supporting strengths such as combat, infiltration, looting, recovery and resource gathering.

Early Access timing and availability

DMZ Early Access is listed as beginning October 20, but no year is specified. That listing does not establish a full DMZ release date or confirm that access is currently live.

The Early Access start date and platform availability are subject to change. Actual play time can also be affected by outages and time zone differences.
